英語面接の準備 第2回
前回は、英語面接でよく質問される12の質問を紹介しました。しかし、英語での質問に「どう答えたらいいのだろうか…」と不安になった人もいるのではないでしょうか。そこで今回は、具体的な回答例をいくつか紹介します。
より具体的な回答のイメージをつかんでもらえるよう、前号でお伝えした質問例の最初の3つを例に、答え方の一例を見てましょう。しかし、日本語での面接と同様、答えに正誤はありません。以下の答えを参考に、あなたらしい答えを見つけてみてください。
1. How would you describe yourself?
自分をどのように評しますか ?
回答例
I consider myself to be reliable, hardworking and trustworthy. I always complete tasks in a timely manner and I have the flexibility of adjusting to any work environment.
頼りになり、仕事熱心で信頼できる人間であると思います。いつも時間通りに仕事を完結させ、どのような状況にも柔軟に対応できます。
2. What are your greatest strengths and weaknesses?
自分の最大の長所と短所は何ですか。
回答例
My greatest strength is my tenacity. With a 'never give up' mentality, I enjoy following through a task until completion. My greatest weakness is that I tend to be a perfectionist. I sometimes find it frustrating to give up a task until it is completed perfectly.
最大の長所は、粘り強い所です。物事を諦めない粘り強さで仕事をやり通します。最大の短所は完全主義であるため、最後までやり通さないと気が済まないことです。
3. Do you love to work with people?
人と一緒に働くのは好きですか。
回答例
I absolutely love interacting with people while at work. Establishing and maintaining good interpersonal skills are necessary in order to create a positive and productive work environment. I also enjoy the challenges and rewards of getting to know different people and being able to adapt to their different working styles.
仕事において人と働くのは大好きです。前向きで生産的な職場を作るには良い人間関係が築かれ維持されなければならないはずです。色々な人に会い、人それぞれの仕事のやり方を学び、やりがいを感じながら仕事ができると思います。
